When I finally got the call that my client was heading to the birth center, I couldn't contain myself. I was so excited for her, her husband and family. She has been on a long journey to attempt a VBAC in a comfortable and welcoming space. She labored in a tub, on the floor, on her hands and knees, in the bed, on the ball, even holding onto the bathroom door. Her husband, doula and midwife were with her every contraction. Never once did I hear her utter a doubt, a "can't", a help me, she knew she had work to do and she did it with pure willpower. I was stunned at how "Buddha" like she was during transition, resting when she could. After a beautiful sunrise, she pushed out Baby R pulling him onto her chest after a full night of exhaustion. She believed she could and she did. A healthy baby, a second son, and grateful parents. Thank you Robyn, from Push Midwifery for letting me into her birthing center to capture this families story. And to the new parents, thank you for trusting me share your story and document the start of a great journey.
